Tata Nexon Price Increased; Diesel Discontinued
Tata Motors has discontinued a few variants and has also increased the price of the Tata Nexon in the Indian market. Tata Motors has announced a price hike between Rs 1,000 and Rs 11,000 depending on the variants. With the new price update, the base variant now costs Rs 7.3 lakh while the top-end gets a price tag of Rs 13.35 lakh.
The models’ diesel-automatic top-end variant gets the maximum price hike of Rs 11,000. Some of the variants remain unaffected by the price hike. The petrol and diesel XZ+ manual variants do not get any price hikes. While the Dark Edition variants of the petrol engine also do not get any hikes. Even the XM (S) trim with the sunroof does not get any price increase.
Diesel variants discontinued
Tata Motors has also discontinued three diesel variants. The manufacturer did not give any reason for the discontinuation of the variants but three of them – XMA, XZ and XZA+ (S) got discontinued. Interestingly, Tata Motors offered around 30 variants distributed among various trims initially after the launch of the Nexon. However, with time, Tata has cleaned up the variant line-up and has discontinued quite a few variants that did not get much customer attention.
India’s first five-star safety rated car
Tata Nexon, which was earlier tested by Global NCAP in August 2016 was re-tested to receive the highest ever points by a made-in-India vehicle. The Nexon received 16.06 points out of 17, which was the highest ever rating achieved by any car ever made in India. This adds one more star to Nexon’s earlier 4-star rating by the same testing agency.
The Nexon later gave the safest car in India position to other cars like the Altroz, XUV500 and recently, the Tata Punch. In the past, many owners have thanked the build quality and safety provided by Tata cars after getting involved in accidents.
Tata launched the Nexon in both petrol and diesel variants and the video is filmed with the diesel variant. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the diesel variant is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both the petrol and diesel variants come with manual and AMT transmission options as well.
Tata has also entered the electric car variant with the Nexon EV. The Nexon EV is exactly the same as the petrol and diesel variant of Nexon except it run on electricity and not fuel. The Nexon EV has become the best selling electric car in India with already 2200 units sold within 10 months of its launch. The Nexon EV is also the fastest electric car in India with a claim of 0-100 km/h within 9.9 seconds.
