Tata Nexon Dark Edition – First Look of the Compact SUV

Sub-4 meter Compact SUV segment is one of the most competitive SUV segments in the country. Almost every manufacturer in the country has at least one product in this segment. This segment consists of cars like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and recently launched Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. Tata Motors also has presence in this segment in the form of Nexon. It is one of the safest cars in this segment and has a 5 star safety rating at Global NCAP crash test. Recently, Tata launched the Tata Nexon Dark Edition compact SUV in the market. Watch the official TVC for the same.

Tata Nexon Dark Edition

The video has been shared by Tata Motors on their YouTube channel. In terms of design, there no changes on outside. Just like Harrier Dark Edition, all the chrome elements on the car have been blacked out. The SUV gets Atlas black paint job and that gives it an upmarket feel. Just like Harrier, Nexon also gets #Dark edition badge on the fender.

It gets gloss black font grille and matte black lower grille. The faux skid plate however gets a silver finish. The single projector headlamps and dual function LED DRLs are all retained. The other major difference when compared with regular Nexon are the wheels. It now gets 16 inch charcoal black alloy wheel. Other than this, the Nexon badging at the rear has been blacked out and the SUV continues to offer clear lens split LED tail lamps.

Design

The tri-arrow designs on Nexon have been retained both on the exterior and interiors. The interiors in the Nexon Dark Edition gets a black theme. the dashboard gets gloss black finish with tri-arrow inserts. Door pads and seats also come with perforated black upholstery with tri-arrow design elements. #Dark embroidery is also placed on the headrests. Tata Nexon Dark Edition is available in XZ+, XZA+, XZ+(O) and XZA+(O) variants. This means, it comes with touchscreen infotainment screen, multi-function steering wheel, electric sunroof, cruise control, connected car features (iRA) and so on. The Dark Edition version of Tata Nexon SUV looks a lot more premium and sporty both outside and on the inside.

Specifications

Tata Nexon is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The company also launched an electric version of Nexon in the market last year and it is currently the best selling electric SUV in the country. Tata also launched a Dark Edition of the Nexon EV in the market. The petrol version of Nexon SUV is available with a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine that generates 120 Ps and 170 Nm of peak torque.

The diesel version of the SUV is powered by a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine that generates 110 Ps and 260 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol and diesel engine options of Tata Nexon are available with manual and AMT gearbox options. Prices for Nexon Dark Edition start at Rs 10.40 lakh, ex-showroom and go up to Rs 13.24 lakh, ex-showroom. Unlike Altroz Dark Edition. Tata is offering Dark edition versions in both petrol and diesel versions of Nexon SUV.
